DECEMBER WRITING CONTEST
Send Us Your Story of Hope
Write a short story, true or fictional, in which hope plays a significant role.
A person’s hopes and dreams couldt be realistic or completely off the wall. They might be small in scope or epic in proportion. Do you hope to change the world? Find a cure for disease or tooth decay? Do you hope for a better tomorrow or to simply make it through your next class? Perhaps your fondest hope is to get your parents to listen or your little brother to be quiet.
We love to laugh; we cringe when writers get preachy; and we appreciate the author who makes us think. 5,000 word limit, if you can tell your story using fewer words that’s OK too. Short is good as long as the story is complete. Entries must be received by December 28, 2007 to be considered.
Note: Because of the expanded word limit – excerpts of the winning entries (up to 600 words) will be published in this newspaper. However, the entire piece will be available to be read on the Community Voice Media website www.communityvoicemedia.com – and will be considered for inclusion in an upcoming book in the Young Voices Series. For information about current calls for submission go to The Young Voices Foundation website. www.youngvoicesfoundation.org
One winner will be awarded in each of three categories: High School, Middle School and Elementary School. Winners will receive a check for $10.00 from Community Voice Media and a certificate of appreciation suitable for framing issued jointly by the Purcellville Gazette and Community Voice Media. Winning entries will be published in the Purcellville Gazette.
Contests are open to all students in grades K-12, Public, Private and Home Schools included. Guidelines for contests must be followed for entry to qualify for prizes. Decision of the judges is final.
Send your entries to bobbicarducci@communityvoicemedia.com or by mail to:
Community Voice Media, PO Box 564, Round Hill, VA 20142. All entries must be received by the closing date of the contest to be eligible for prizes.
