About Teresa
Bilingual communications and public affairs strategist
with over 20 years of experience connecting institutions
with multicultural and Latino communities.
I help government agencies, campaigns, nonprofits, and organizations communicate effectively with multicultural and Latino communities through strategic communication, media engagement, and culturally relevant storytelling.
Storytelling Profesional
From Journalism to Strategic Communications
My career began in journalism, reporting for Al Día and other Spanish-language outlets in Philadelphia and South Jersey. Journalism taught me how storytelling can shape narratives, influence policy, and amplify voices often overlooked in public conversations.
This foundation allowed me to build a career at the intersection of media, public service, and community engagement.
Public Service and Community Impact
While serving in the New Jersey state government, I led communications and Latino outreach initiatives across health, education, banking, and public policy.
During the COVID-19 crisis, when misinformation threatened Latino families, I launched and produced the Spanish-language radio show «Al Ritmo de la Comunidad», creating a trusted space for accurate and culturally relevant information.
Driving Meaningful Results
At the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, my communications strategy helped achieve record Latino enrollments for Get Covered NJ, demonstrating how culturally tailored communication can directly improve access to essential services.
Most recently, I served as Spanish-language press strategist for Governor Mikie Sherrill’s campaign, helping deliver a historic 68% Latino vote share through strategic media engagement and community partnerships.
Purpose
Across journalism, public service, and strategic communications, my mission remains the same: to build trust, elevate voices, and help institutions serve communities with clarity, dignity, and impact.
